UPDATE: THE NUMBER OF WORKERS RESCUED NOW STANDS AT 33.
Eighteen workers have been rescued from a collapsed tunnel in India after being trapped underground for 17 days.
On 12 November, 41 men were inside the 2.8 mile (4.5km) tunnel when a landslide caused a portion of it to cave in.
The rescue operation was hampered by several setbacks but at last today, the workers have started to be brought out.
According to India’s news station, NDTV, all the workers are well and healthy.
Rescue teams expect to have all the workers safely out within a few hours.
