The new website of the Property Market Licensing Board has been launched

The Minister for Public Works and Planning Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi launched the new website of the Real Estate Licensing Board. Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi explained that through this website information is being provided for those who wish to apply to work as a property agent, property broker, branch manager or property consultant, among others.

At the same time, through this website consumers can easily check if the person selling the property has a license according to the law. He said that almost 1,400 licenses have been approved to date. These consist of 150 property agents, 104 branch managers, 880 property consultants and 229 property brokers. This while the number of property companies that intervene in the property amounts to 141.

Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi mentioned how the process through which the licenses are being distributed physically has started since yesterday. Through this website the license will be subject to more rigorous scrutiny and this will be complemented by a clearer and more understood legal framework that will regulate and enforce the sector. “The number of licenses indicates that the activity in this industry is not small and therefore this is another step to further strengthen the regulation in this sector,” concluded Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi.

Joseph Deguara, the Head of the Property Market Licensing Unit, pointed out how this new website is making it easier for property intermediaries to access applications and any other information they need. He also explained that this website is introducing new services such as a new complaints system, as well as access to the register of licensed intermediaries.

The public will be able to access this register by entering the identity card number of the intermediaries or the license number as issued by the Property Market Licensing Board.
