Government lands are being identified which instead of being developed are turned into open spaces

A process has been started to identify Government lands that can be developed with buildings and instead be turned into open spaces. Prime Minister Robert Abela announced this with a speech in Parliament during the discussion of the financial estimates for the Office of the Prime Minister in relation to the Budget presented by the Government.

Dr. Abela explained that these lands that can be built have a considerable value but the Government recognizes that they are green spaces in the urban area. “Early next year we will finalize the first part of this process so that these lands are added to the greening projects that are already being worked on,” Prime Minister Abela explained and he stresses that this it is done with realistic work where it is possible for this to happen.

The Prime Minister also announced that from next year a paperless Government system will start working and therefore the systems will be switched from the traditional ones of manual filing. This is with a system called Corporate Electronic Document as part of the strategy in the Public Service regarding digitization. Currently a contract is being evaluated so that from next year a centralized system by MITA will come into force with an investment of millions of euros where the first to start in this system is the Office of the Prime Minister and the departments within Castille.

“In the field of eGovernment, Malta has credibility because it has maintained its place at the top in an index of the European Union, but what counts is the consistency that comes as a result of investment and continuous modernization of the digital infrastructure that meets the needs of -citizens”, said Prime Minister Abela.

In his speech he spoke about the implementation of the Government’s work program ‘Malta Together’ where he mentioned the implementation of the Budget measures. He also mentioned changes that continue to strengthen Malta including the one announced for the first time regularization of employment agencies. This is with one clear principle, which is to strengthen the control of the Maltese Authorities.

Prime Minister Robert Abela explained how the Budget announced for next year will remain focused on helping families and businesses instead of the policy of austerity embraced by the previous administration. He stressed that this is because the Government believes that with the Budget it will continue to create a Just Malta.
