Swieqi and Hibs win to stay top of WSL

Swieqi maintained their top position in the Assikura Women’s League after easing past Mtarfa with a 10-0 victory.

Ghana forward Salamatu Abdulai starred with four goals while captain Dorianne Theuma grabbed a brace for the Owls.

Meanwhile, the other goals were scored by Michaela Cachia, Karima Abdulai, Shona Zammit and Jade Schembri.

Hibernians managed to keep their leadership in the Assikura Women’s League, together with Swieqi United, after defeating Valletta 3-0.

The Paolites managed to draw first blood early in the game through youngster Nyorah Celeste.

Hibernians made sure of the victory with Alexis Espitia scoring a brace.

Mġarr United hit San Ġwann for seven with Brazilian forward Fernanda Peinado scoring a hat-trick in the first half.

Chantelle Grech and Luana Cabral scored Mġarr’s other goals in the opening 45 minutes while Rodiana Borg and Daniela Ebejer scored after the exchange of ends.

The Greens trail leaders Swieqi and Hibernians by two points.

Defending champions Birkirkara scored four goals to return back to winning ways after scoring a 4-0 win over Lija Athletic.

Italian midfielder Marta Grosso and Arianna Del Moral, who hails from the United States, scored the opening couple of goals before Raina Giusti.

Francesca Chircop scored Birkirkara’s fourth goal as the Stripes are on 15 points but with a game in hand.
