Tunnel to Malta International Airport closure due to major roadworks

Malta’s International Airport has announced that major roadworks will be carried out over the next few days on the airport ring road.

In a statement the company said that, for this reason, as of Monday 13 November, the tunnel on Karwija Road, which generally serves as the main entryway to Malta International Airport, will not be accessible.

Access to the airport will be only through the outer lane of the road leading to Ħal Far.

People driving to the airport are advised to follow the signage, as well as to look out for the temporary traffic lights on the road to Ħal Far, at which they will need to turn to the right.

On the other hand, the airport’s main parking area may be accessed through the lanes marked in green (see picture below).

The first phase of the works will not impact the airport exit.
