Eighteen people died when a gunman opened fire at a bar and a bowling alley in the small northern town of Maine, close to the border with Canada.
A massive police hunt is underway for the shooter who police have named as a 40-year-old, who had been a reservist in the US Army.
FBI and police have surrounded a house where the suspect lived. It is known known if the suspect is inside the property.
