Malta a center of technological developments for service and the best care – Prime Minister Robert Abela addresses The Malta Med-Tech World Summit

When he visited The Malta Med-Tech World Summit and addressed, among others, many investors and chief executives of technology companies in the medical field, Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed that Malta should be a center for innovation in the medical sector. technology linked to the medical aspect for the benefit of the people in the community and the industry itself.

The Prime Minister said that they say this because our country has a solid base in this aspect through continuous investment in the field of health and the technological infrastructure of excellent service for patients. Dr. Abela noted that the Med-Tech sector is another economic niche in the country. He said that Malta is going through a digital core which will also lead to a leap in digital services linked to health known as eHealth.

The Prime Minister claimed that our country welcomes investors with specialized and innovative companies that with their service also give the best quality of life to the citizens. “We believe that health care is not a privilege but a guaranteed right for every citizen and therefore we will continue to invest to provide the best quality care for the people”, said Prime Minister Abela and he points out how the Med -tech is an opportunity for both the quality career seeker and the patient.

It is in this context that the Prime Minister Robert Abela mentioned that Malta must be at the forefront of innovation linked also to the medical sector. The Prime Minister noted that in our country this is already happening also through research and innovation in the field of pharmaceuticals and in the robotics system in operations being carried out at Mater Dei Hospital. He said that the fact that our country responds very effectively to a dynamic regulatory framework in this industry means not only that Malta is open to offer the best environment for this emerging investment but also shows that our country safeguards the – product quality linked to the aspect of innovation and technology in the medical sector. The Prime Minister  also concluded by pointing out that our country is leading to quality professionals in the medical aspect through the University of Malta and the campus in Gozo of Queen Mary University of London.
