EU’s top officials condemn Hamas attacks

The European Union’s top officials gathered outside the European Parliament in an act of solidarity with Israel against the attacks by Hamas at the weekend.

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel were joined by MEPs and the Israeli ambassador to the EU Haim Regev for the ceremony on Wednesday.

Roberta Metsola called Hamas a terrorist organisation that does not represent the “legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people”.

The gathering was to remember the people who died when Hamas launched attacks along the Gaza strip on Saturday.
