Artic storm hits US: 13 reported deaths

Thirteen people have died in the US as an artic storm that has seen temperatures plunge as low as -45C (-49F) sweeps across the country.

Tens of millions of Americans are facing blizzard conditions, power failures and cancelled travel plans ahead of the Christmas holiday weekend.

More than 200 million people are under a weather warning with the artic conditions  expected to last over the weekend.

Thousands of flights have been cancelled heaping more travel misery for people planning to visit families over Christmas.

President Joe Biden, in a televised message, warned that this is not a normal “snow day, this is serious”.
