Evacuations underway in Corfu as wild fires hit second Greek island

People are being evacuated by sea as wild fires hit the Greek island of Corfu hours after around 19,000 tourists were evacuated from parts of Rhodes.

Flights have been arranged to people out of Rhodes.

The Greek Minister for Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, told Sky News “overall, the island is functioning very well”.

She praised locals for showing “solidarity” with tourists affected by the fires.
