Sudan crisis: UK to begin evacuating British nationals

The UK is to begin evacuating British people in Sudan on a “priority basis”, the government has announced.

Families with children, the elderly and people with medical conditions will be given priority.

The conflict between government forces and paramilitary rebels has so far claimed more than 400 lives.

Both sides have now agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire and it is hoped that the remaining will be evacuated safely from the capital Khartoum.
