10 new mediators receive their warrants

The Minister for Justice Jonathan Attard presented the warrants to 10 new mediators after they completed an academic course and demonstrated their competence to exercise the role of mediators.
In a ceremony in the Berga of Aragon, Minister Attard congratulated the new mediators and thanked them for choosing to be of service to those who turn to them to bring them to an agreement in a non-contentious method, in a reasonable time and with less costs.
“Through the granting of these warrants we are fulfilling another electoral promise by continuing to increase the number of mediators, and committing to continue working and considering more initiatives to strengthen the mediation sector,” stressed Minister Attard. The minister also explained that in the last year, the budget allocated to the Mediation Center has increased by 50% so that it can continue to modernize itself and be a tool to avoid contentious cases before our Courts.
The ceremony was also addressed by the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Mediation Center Dr Vince Micallef who spoke about the work being carried out not only in the implementation of the proposals of the government’s electoral manifesto and – drawing up proposals for legislative change, but also with initiatives to further promote this sector.
Present for the ceremony were the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for Justice Johan Galea, the Registrar of the Mediation Center Romuald Attard, and the Board of Directors.
