Renovation project in Professor Đuzè Aquilina’s Garden, in Munxar completed

The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri and the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli, together with the Mayor of Munxar Local Council Damien Spiteri, inaugurated a renovation project in Professor Gużè Aquilina’s Garden.
This project was financed by funds of the Local Government Division through special schemes. It was explained that the Munxar Local Council was given funds amounting to approximately €42,000 from the Financing Scheme for the Development and Improvement of the Conditions of the Playing Fields in the Localities in Malta and Gozo. Through these funds, the local council was also able to do renovation work around the swings.
Minister Clint Camilleri said that the government is committed to continuing to create more public spaces and places where families can spend time at rest. He went on to say that, “therefore we support projects like this because they are part of our aim to improve various areas in different localities so that residents have places of recreation in their own locality. This is actually another project that we are inaugurating this year in Munxar.”
This project consisted of a renovation of the garden which included the installation of a new electrical system, installation of railings for more safety and accessibility, and general maintenance and beautification of the garden. A new playhouse was also installed in the garden. Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli said that the government committed to continue investing in more green and recreational spaces in the Maltese and Gozitan localities.
“Through such projects in the heart of the localities, the local councils are complementing and supporting the work of the government in favor of green recreational spaces and a better environment”. The parliamentary secretary also praised the commitment of the Munxar Local Council because through the work it has done, they have increased accessibility and more security in this open and recreational space.
Mayor Damien Spiteri explained that through this scheme, the local council obtained funding so that this project could be carried out. The mayor claimed that it is gratifying to see children and families enjoying this open space, while he reiterated that he will continue to ensure that such places are kept to the highest possible standards. Several members of the Munxar Local Council were also present for the inauguration.
