Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurates a €25 million investment in a new hotel

 “The changes we are continuing to bring to our country we also want to make to keep raising the level of the tourist product.” This was the main message delivered by Prime Minister Robert Abela when he visited a €25 million investment in a new hotel in St Julian’s. 
In fact he stressed that we must continue to look at growth that is sustainable with a clear vision for the tourism sector to attract quality tourists to Malta in a nicer and cleaner environment in our country. During the visit to the AC Hotel by Marriott, which started welcoming the first tourists, the Prime Minister Robert Abela reiterated that the Government will continue to give support to bring certainty and stability even among those who are investing in our country. This is also through the great help that is being given on energy. He praised this latest investment in the hospitality sector and pointed out how our country is now looking at results in tourism that match those before the pandemic. They said this in a context that official statistics showed that the first quarter of this year was the best in history for the tourist sector in Malta.
Prime Minister Abela explained how the work to address the challenge of seasonality in tourism must continue and be strengthened so that the positive trend of tourism continues to be felt in other areas in Malta. In the hotel with 106 rooms and with excellent facilities, including an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, the Prime Minister, accompanied by his wife Dr. Lydia Abela, praised the resilience and strong will of the investors and noted the -confidence that they continue to show in our country. He said that we cannot stop here and that is why the Government will continue to incentivize investment also in tourism.
Here he noted the upward revision made by the European Commission recently for Malta’s economic growth and pointed out how the same European institution stressed that Malta has and will continue to have the lowest unemployment rate.
Albert Galea, the CEO of the Baystreet Group, the Group that also manages this hotel, praised the work of the workers who worked on this hotel investment. He said that he is proud of the fact that the line of hotels mentioned, spread in around 31 countries, also has a presence in Malta. Also present was the Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo.
