A €2 million agreement that continues to strengthen the services provided by OASI

The Ministry for Social Policy and Children’s Rights has renewed and strengthened the social agreement it has with the OASI Foundation in Gozo. This foundation has been established for the last 32 years and during them it has provided an extensive range of social services in the community intended for people who have fallen victim to addictions.

This agreement was signed during a visit made by the Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon to the rehabilitation center in Gozo. In this center care and rehabilitation is provided on a residential basis and also other services in the community for those people who do not need centralized help. Most of the cases include a problem related to addictions to alcohol, drugs, gambling and ‘behavioural addictions’ such as the exaggerated use of social media.

Minister Michael Falzon said that this program helps every section of society. “Our goal is to give help without judging, while helping each person find their feet again and we also give support to their family members. This agreement will be spread over a period of 3 years and will reach the €2 million that will make possible the management of this residence that hosts up to a maximum of 15 beds,” Minister Falzon concluded.
