PM meets with new leaders of Chamber of Commerce

In a meeting with the new leadership of the Chamber of Commerce, Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed that the Government will continue to push forward changes that will continue to lead to sustainable economic growth.
At the Castille, the Prime Minister welcomed among others the President of the Chamber of Commerce Chris Vassallo Cesareo and in the meeting he pointed out how as a country we want our economy to be one based on skills, research and innovation so as not only to create jobs but quality careers. In a context that the majority of companies in our country want to employ more people, the Prime Minister claimed that education remains the key to strengthening the labor sector where with our work we continue to direct the -students and workers of tomorrow towards the fields that offer them careers and quality of life.
Prime Minister Abela also spoke on new priorities that the country has and emphasized on the digital and environmental hearts. Dr. Abela explained that even the largest package of European funds obtained for Malta was directed with these hearts in mind and these same hearts should not only create new sectors in our country but also transform the operation of businesses.  
He explained that the environmental core should touch many sectors, from transport, to buildings and energy. It also meant that the technological change that we want to carry out as a country in a short time is unprecedented in history because we understand that this is important. Here he mentioned the investment by the Government in favor of the digitization of services but also meant how the digital core can also be an advantage for the private sector. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to continue pushing reforms with continuous contact with the social partners and while he wished the new management of the Chamber of Commerce, he meant this Chamber as a partner key strategic in the discussions in favor of making decisions with which Malta continues to move forward. 
President of the Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, Chris Vassallo Cesareo welcomed the meeting he had with the Prime Minister and claimed that the Chamber of Commerce looks forward to a continuous dialogue. He noted how the Government was wise and worked well to protect the economy by lifting the burden linked to the increase in international energy prices. He pointed out that the commercial community continues to wait for direction from the Government regarding the subsidy on energy.
The President of Commerce also mentioned the importance of governance among them when it comes to the process of awarding contracts and also referred to the need for reform in the area of justice. The meeting in Castile was also attended by Ministers Miriam Dalli and Silvio Schembri as well as the Head of the Secretariat of the Office of the Prime Minister Glenn Micallef.
