Aġenzija Sedqa, within the Foundation for Social Care Services, continued to lead several educational campaigns in post-secondary schools.

One of these campaigns was held at the Higher Secondary Giovanni Curmi in Naxxar, during which there were several activities with educational messages, including stress control as well as knowledge about alcohol and cannabis.

During a visit, the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima and the Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon saw how these are made exercises to provide correct information on the effects and laws on these substances.

The government is committed to continue investing in the field of prevention and harm reduction. The collaboration of Aġenzija Sedqa leads to more coherence so that preventive programs are effective and address the realities of today’s society.

Minister Clifton Grima said, “The education we give our children should be a complete education. An education that is one that teaches the curriculum but that is also one that looks beyond the curriculum to raise a generation that is responsible, by also giving them information about life. Education therefore does not only look at information, the walk to the job bank, but also to inform and educate about the responsibilities of each student as an individual who is part of society.”

Minister Michael Falzon said that the government will continue to invest in educational and preventive programs to deliver factual information and even consequences of certain abuses that can be detrimental in the long term. The Department of Education together with the Foundation for Social Care Services have also worked to design a program so that students are given the opportunity to discuss various topics of interest and improve their personal skills. This is being done in areas that are important for the future of every student. Two programs that are encouraging more interest among young people are ‘Teen outside the Box’ and STOP, which convey knowledge about the wise use of social media and help about cyber bullying, among others.
