A memorial of thanks was presented to the members of the Civil Protection who assisted the Turkish people

In an event organized at the fire station in Kordin for the members of the Civil Protection who assisted the Turkish people after the earthquake of February this year, the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality Byron Camilleri told the present workers how proud he is of what has been accomplished in Turkey by the members of the Civil Protection.

“Thank you for being there for others in need as much as you are ready for Maltese and Gowis in Malta every day,” stressed Minister Camilleri while adding that the work that the members of the Maltese Civil Protection performed with so many families in need brought the admiration of many.

Minister Camilleri claimed that even though Malta is a small country, we have shown the great progress made in Civil Protection which today not only has the capacity to be of the best assistance in our country but also abroad. This was also weighed against the fact that the Maltese and Gozitan people responded with so much strength to the calls for help, where there were many containers filled with supplies that went to Turkey and Syria.

Minister Byron Camilleri presented a memorial to 38 Civil Protection officers together with a rescue dog named ‘Peppi’ who went or were of continuous assistance so that this help could be given to the Turkish people. Present during this ceremony was also the Acting Director of Civil Protection Peter Paul Coleiro.
