Tesse aims to bring out the best in players

‘My philosophy is to try to get the best out of the players,’ said Women National Teams Head Coach Manuela Tesse one day ahead of the friendly match against Estonia.  ‘I want all the players to feel comfortable in their role so they can maximise their performance,’ continued Tesse.

The Malta Women’s National Team are in Estonia where they will face the hosts in a friendly match on Friday April 7th at the Sportland Arena, in Tallinn (kick-off 18:00).

This will be the third friendly match for Manuela Tesse as National Teams Head Coach, having played a friendly double header against Luxembourg in February.  She started with two straight wins against Luxembourg and was looking forward to meet the team once again during this international window for some in depth training before this friendly match against Estonia.

‘The team is mentally and physically prepared’ said Coach Tesse whilst confirming that the team will be without Jade Flask who suffered an injury during the league games, and Alishia Sultana who suffered a muscle strain during national team training.  Coach Tesse stressed that ‘I believe that we still have a good number of players to choose from’.

On comparing the Estonian team to the Luxembourgian team, she said that Estonia is a different team. Coach Tesse and her colleagues have studied the Estonian team. They are more powerful physically and tactically.

‘We have a lot of talented players who are technically good therefore I would like them to keep more the possession,’ concluded Tesse.
