Man arrested at Malta International Airport as police find drugs in his baggage

A 45-year-old Polish man was arrested after an investigation by police in connection with trafficking and drug importation.

He was arrested at Malta International Airport on Sunday after he was found in possession of around four kilos of a substance suspected to be the drug heroin. The man was stopped by police as soon as he arrived in Malta on a flight from Frankfurt, Germany, following information that he was probably carrying an illegal substance.

Assisted by Customs officers, the police opened the suitcase and in a false bottom a package containing the alleged drug was found, with a value on the road of around €150,000.
