Bad weather disrupts football matches tonight

The Malta FA announces that a number of games from today’s Izibet FA Trophy fixtures, Assikura Women’s League and National Youth League Section C fixture are being postponed because of the bad weather.

Four IZIBET FA Trophy Round of 16 games, one Assikura Women’s league fixture and one National Youth League Section C games which were due to be played today, have been postponed amid safety concerns caused by the inclement weather and warnings of gale-force winds.  The Malta FA has taken this decision to ensure the safety of the general public, the players and staff, which is of paramount importance, following the necessary consultations.

New dates for the four IZIBET FA Trophy Round of 16 ties due to have been played on Wednesday – Balzan vs Birkirkara, Hibernians vs Kerċem Ajax, Gudja United vs Sirens, and Valletta vs Ħamrun Spartans – as well as Wednesday’s match from the Assikura Women’s League Mtarfa vs Mġarr United due to be played at the Sirens Stadium and the National Youth league Section C tie between Pembroke Athleta and Gzira United will be announced in due course.

The two IZIBET FA Trophy matches scheduled at the National Stadium, were due to be aired live on TVM Sports+ but will be replaced in the schedule.

All tickets bought for any of the above mentioned fixtures will be valid for the rescheduled fixtures. Anyone not able to attend the respective match on the rescheduled date may request a refund by sending an email with details of the match to tickets@mfa.com.mt.

The Malta FA will be assessing the weather conditions day by day and may take decisions to reschedule more games in the coming days.
