Minister Byron Camilleri leads a Maltese delegation in the fields of security in Libya

Minister Byron Camilleri met with Libyan Interior Minister Emad Trabelsi. They discussed the continuation of the collaboration between the two countries where security is concerned.

The two sides talked about ways to work between the security authorities of the two countries in order to fight international crime, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, electronic crime and smuggling. The two sides also talked about irregular immigration and the work of the Libyan authorities on land and at sea to combat human trafficking.

Malta reiterated its commitment to continue supporting the Libyan authorities in strengthening their capacities in order to fight this crime and reduce the risk of loss of life in the central Mediterranean. The coordination center between Malta and Libya in Tajoura was also inaugurated by Minister Camilleri and the Under Secretary at the Ministry of Interior Mahmoud Saeed. This center is operating within the parameters of the coordination agreement between the two states.

Minister Camilleri also visited the police academy in Tajoura where he followed closely the training facilities of the Libyan disciplined bodies and logistical preparations being made by the forces of order in connection with the organization of -election in Libya.
