A new multi-sensory room was inaugurated at Dar Arka

The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri together with the Minister for Inclusion, Volunteering and Consumer Rights Julia Farrugia Portelli inaugurated a multi-sensory room project at Dar Arka, in Għajnsielem, which was carried out by the Arka Foundation and it was financed by the Ministry for Gozo with an investment of €45,000.

Minister Clint Camilleri explained that this room will be used primarily by people with autism or any other disability and through special equipment these people will learn new abilities. He stated that as a government committed to continue investing in such facilities in order to improve and facilitate the lives of people with disabilities.

It was also explained that this facility has been existing for several years but the need to update it with modern technology was felt. Therefore, it was decided to rebuild a larger and more spacious room that will be able to be used both by the residents of Dar l’Arka and by other disabled people.

Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli said that this government is continuing to invest in infrastructure in the community linked to inclusion. She added that this connects with the work of the government which in this legislature has widened the investment criteria in the SensAbility scheme so that every family can apply to have a sensory room in their own home.

In this room one will find an interactive device, a television and lights that dim and rise according to need while changing colors, along with relaxing music. This room also helps the people who make use of it to improve their physical abilities.

Minister Clint Camilleri concluded by saying, “The field of people with disabilities has always been at the center of this government’s work, and in Gozo wise investment is also being made in this sector. Our goal is above all for our children to be truly included in society.”
