Former Labour MP Silvio Parnis passes away aged 57

Former Labour MP Silvio Parnis has passed away aged 57 after a battle with cancer.

Tributes for the former MP, who was also the Mayor of Paola, have poured in from both Labour and Nationalist MP’s.

Prime Minister Robert Abela said, “Silvio Parnis was a person who, when you spoke to him, the discussion would always revolve around what people need, what one can do to improve the lives of those who can’t bear the burden.”

From former Nationalist Minister Jason Azzopardi, who grew up in Paola with Silvio, “We grew up together. Mużew and football together. He was with me when my mum died when I was 15 years old. We travelled together. We laughed together. We cried together.”
