PM Liz Truss u-turns on 45p top rate of tax

England’s Prime Minister Liz Truss has surprised the Conservative Party annual conference by announcing that she is halting the proposed scrapping of the 45p top tax rate.

Chanceller Kwasi Kwarteng announced the cut in a mini-budget last week but the move was met by such wide-spread criticism that some Tory MP’s were even thinking of a no-confidence vote which led PM Liz Truss to make the surprise move of pulling the plug on the tax cut.
