Sweden and Finland have been formally invited to join NATO as the alliance announced a “new strategic concept”.
The leaders of the 30 members meeting in Madrid said that “The accession of Finland and Sweden will make them safer, NATO stronger, and the Euro-Atlantic area more secure”.
Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine could count on continued support from NATO and warned Russia to withdraw from Ukraine.
