Hibernians claimed their 13 Premier title with a 3-1 win over Hamrun Spartans.
With only one game to go, the win put Hibernians four points clear and out of reach of chasing Floriana.
The game started brightly with both sides carving out chances. B’Kara went close with a free kick in the opening minutes but Kone grabbed the ball with ease.
At the other end, Degabriele fired wide from inside the box.
Venancio was ambitious with a free kick for B’Kara but his effort ended up high in the seats behind the goal.
B’Kara went in front on 20 minutes through Falcone after some confusion in the box with Hibs players seeming to have stopped. Falcone did not and B’Kara were 1 up.
The equaliser came on 26 minutes when Grech slid in Degabriele to make it 1-1.
Thaylor, who was always a threat on the wing took a nasty knock and needed some lengthy treatment but was able to play on, to the relieve of Hibs.
Sylla produced some outstanding saves in the second half to keep B’Kara in the game but with 20 minutes remaining, Hibs forged in front. A short corner played to Degabriele who fired a cross into the box where Almeida headed the ball back across goal for Dunstan Vella to head home. That goal sparked wild celebrations among the Hibs supporters but even more was to follow.
As the game went into extra time and with B’Kara pushing everyone forward, including the keeper, in search of an equaliser, Hibs broke out quickly and sharp passing found Raphael Dos Anjos who raced half the pitch and slammed the ball into an empty net.
Now the celebrations climbed up to another level as players and supporters celebrated their 13th league title.
Man of the Match: Dunstan Vella, Hibernians.
