A new SR-Technics six-bay hangar has been inaugurated with an investment of € 42 million

SR Technics has inaugurated a new facility in Luqa with an investment of € 42 million. With this investment, the number of employees at SR Technics will increase to 500 in the next two years. The six-bay hangar is considered a center of excellence in the field of aircraft maintenance and repair.

With an investment of 40,000 square meters, SR Technics has expanded its space so that today it can carry out repair and maintenance work on six B737 and A320 aircraft at the same time.

Prime Minister Robert Abela has said that this sector has a more successful future ahead of it.

“This state-of-the-art project will be home to hundreds of workers in building their careers to deliver excellent customer service. Moreover, this is an investment that represents the commitment to a more innovative country. ”

Dr Abela explained that we need to continue investing in human capital, to make our country more competitive and more attractive than other countries in new and growing sectors.

“I believe we need to set up an aviation education center that caters to the needs of the industry. This center should prepare our students, with their skills to respond to the demand that exists for skilled and ambitious workers. Therefore, we are determined to create an environment that encourages students to choose this industry. ”

Minister Miriam Dalli explained how through this investment, not only new careers are being created but Malta is becoming a center of excellence for aircraft maintenance and repair.

“I am proud of the confidence that SR Technics has shown in Malta to further increase its investment. When it started its project in 2018, SR Technics wanted a hangar that met the demands of the aviation industry. Nevertheless, in the midst of the pandemic, we continued to work on this investment thanks also to the help provided by the Government and Malta Enterprise, “said Minister Dalli.

The Chief Executive of SR Technics in Switzerland Jean Marc Lenz said that “this center of excellence of the SR in Malta for narrow body aircraft provides an excellent service when it comes to aircraft repair and maintenance. Customers know that SR Technics means quality, excellent technical service and favorable business rates. Present at the inauguration were, among others, the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg and the Minister for the Economy and Industry, Silvio Schembri, the Chief Executive of SR Technics in Switzerland Jean Marc Lenz together with the Chief Executive of SR Technics Malta Arthur Magri.
