European leaders agree ” package of massive sanctions” against Russia

European Union leaders said on Friday as they agreed new sanctions over his invasion of Ukraine.

In an overnight emergency summit meeting  leaders agreed in principle to impose new economic sanctions, joining the United States and others in taking steps such as curbing Russia’s access to technologies.

EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said the package will target “70% of the Russian banking market and key state owned companies, including in defence”.
