With the clock ticking and days running out, for a March election at least, Prime Minister Robert Abela is still keeping everyone guessing as to when he will call the election.
Rumours are flying, as always, about the possibility of an announcement being made this weekend. The prime minister could make the call on Sunday, he will be addressing a meeting of Labour supporters in Floriana and he could make the call then. That would give him the minimum 33-day window between dissolving parliament and election day.
Should Robert Abela decide to go for a March election, the date would be 26th, just ahead of the visit by Pope Francis.
The Nationalist Party are not taking any chances on being caught napping.
Opposition leader Bernard Grech will be in Mosta on Sunday for a meeting of supporters who no doubt will be paying close attention to what Prime Minister Robert Abela says.
