Signing of the Small Grant Schemes Agreement with seven local councils with an investment of around € 690,000

Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government José Herrera, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister Carmelo Abela and Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi preside over the signing of the EEA-Norway Grant Agreements with seven local councils

Minister José Herrera together with Minister Carmelo Abela and Parliamentary Secretary Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi presided over the signing of the Small Grant Schemes Agreement (funded by Norwegian funds) between the Local Government Division as Small Grant Schemes Operators and seven local councils considered as urban localities, in order to carry out projects in their respective localities. The local councils that have signed this agreement are Santa Venera, Tarxien, Paola, Marsa, Birgu, Sliema and Senglea. Between them, these seven local councils will receive € 690,000.

Projects include: developing a center that will help to acquire new skills and thus have more job opportunities; regeneration of a garden and playground for use in socio-cultural and educational purposes; a mobility and accessibility service will be provided to vulnerable people; development of an Active Aging Day Center providing facilities for older people in the community; a project to promote social inclusion where facilities to provide a safe environment for the elderly will be developed; outdoor activities will be organized for the elderly in the community as well as various activities will be organized to promote social inclusion and poverty reduction.
