Minister for Education and Sport Clifton Grima visits ongoing works at the Rabat Primary School

Victoria Primary School in Malta is being regenerated and beautified with an investment of € 4 million, which will give the school a completely modern look while completely eliminating the inconvenience of operating from two different buildings.

“We are regenerating the education sector. Investment in education is unprecedented. This is a state-of-the-art project that will welcome around 400 students in the school year starting in September 2023. Thus, the students of this school will have the best environment where they can get the best education possible. We believe that our educators and students deserve the best environment in which to go and get their education, ”said Education and Sport Minister Clifton Grima when he visited the work in progress.

He also said that this is being done to bring this sector into today’s era while ensuring that the educational environment is adapted to have a truly qualitative education.

Victoria Primary School, part of St Nicholas College, was operating from two different buildings in the same locality. The goals of this project are to get the school up and running from one building and to offer modern, accessible and comfortable educational spaces for our children and educators in one school.
The new school, which seats 400 children, will have 33 classes, including classes for specific subjects such as art, music and Personal, Social and Career Development (PSCD). Ten classes will be at the kindergarten level. The school will also have an indoor gym, outdoor recreation areas, a multi-sensory room as well as an industrial kitchen and a children’s dining area attending the Breakfast Club.

New services will be installed as part of the project, including a new electricity, water and sewerage service, security cameras, internet connectivity, alarm and fire safety services. The school will also have new furniture that will further encourage inclusion in teaching. Energy-efficient measures will be introduced in the building as required by law and as is being done in all new and refurbished schools.

To ensure that the work being done by the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools is carried out at a fast pace and that children and educators are not endangered until the work is done, the teaching will be provided at the other primary school. already in the same locality.

The Chief Executive of the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools, Neville Young, explained the work being done in two phases, the first phase being that of construction and restructuring, and how to complete this phase, the a second phase leads to the opening of the school in September 2023.
