Fears mount of imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine

As fears mount of an imminent invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, Britains Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said, “Today I chaired a COBR meeting on the serious Russian threat to Ukraine. Latest information suggests Russia could invade at any moment and we urge the Kremlin to deescalate. Our focus is on prioritising the safety and security of British nationals in Ukraine”.

Britain, along with other NATO countries, including the US, have told their nationals to leave Ukraine as soon as possible and warned that, should a shooting war break out, no military evacuation would be available.

Diplomatic talks are continuing in last ditch bid to de-escalate the situation as Russia continues to increase troops along the border with Ukraine. Russia President Vladimir Putin says he does not want Ukraine to become a NATO member while Ukraine has today insisted it does want to become a member.
