Big win for leaders Hibernians as they hammer Valletta, Floriana keep in touch, Hamrun beaten and Sirens take point off Birkirkara.
Hibs showed why they are top of the premiership with a masterclass displayb against Valletta. 4-1 victors, Hibs never looked threatened after De Costa fired them in front inside the first two minutes. Two more from Degabriele, a consolation from Tuliemieri before Domoraud restored Hibs three goal cushion. Hibs on fire against a Valletta side struggling to regain form and confidence. As for Hibernians, they are enjoying a tremdous run of results and ominous for the chasing group, they look like a side that can get even better.
Second placed Floriana upped the nerves for Hibs with a 2-0 win over Mosta before the Hibs- Valletta clash. It keeps Floriana within striking distance of the leaders, just four points seperating them. With Birkirkara being held to a 1-1 draw by Sirens and now nine points below Hibs, it would appear that Floriana are the sole remaining challengers. Floriana and Hibernians meet on 13th March. That could be a crunch game for both of them.
Defending chamions Hamrun Spartans have lost their way in recent games, a 1-0 loss to Gudja keeping them in fifth place and now just a point behind Sirens.
