Minister Byron Camilleri meets school children on 112 Day

Minister for Home Affairs, National Security and Enforcement Byron Camilleri and Minister for Education and Sports Clifton Grima address a press conference on 112 day

On the day dedicated to the 112 emergency number, law enforcement agencies as well as those of the emergency service met to raise awareness about the responsible use of this number.

At an event at Żabbar Primary School, which was attended by the Minister for the Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri and the Minister for Education and Sport Clifton Grima, children of different ages could observe the work being done when someone called for help on 112.

Minister Camilleri spoke about the importance of using this number responsibly, because that phone call could mean life or death. In the year 2021, the 112 control room received a total of 340,410 calls, however there were more than 260,213 calls that were not supposed o be made on the 112 number as they were abusive calls or cases that  had no relevance.
