Ministry for Gozo allocates around € 200,000 to aid schemes for voluntary organizations and sports organizations

Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri for another year has launched two schemes to support the work and operation of voluntary organizations and sports associations which are based in Gozo.

Minister Camilleri announced that this year the Ministry for Gozo is reallocating € 120,000 for the Assistance Scheme for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Ministry for Gozo and € 75,000 for the Initiatives Promotion Scheme and Sports Facilities. He explained that, “These schemes are intended for the Ministry for Gozo to assist voluntary organizations that will be implementing a project, event or carrying out an initiative for the benefit of the Gozitan community and to strengthen and support volunteering. in Gozo. ”

In each scheme the financial aid granted is a reimbursement of the costs incurred. For this year it has been decided to issue a call for proposals at the beginning of the year and if the need arises, based on demand from the sector, another call will be issued during the year. In addition, voluntary organizations will be given the option to carry out their project / initiative within 12 months of the date of the grant agreement.

Clint Camilleri invited voluntary organizations to submit their application in the new calls. He said that the aid that is being allocated, both through these schemes and through any other schemes administered by the ministry, is a clear sign of confidence in the voluntary work in Gozo and in the people. to form unions and to work tirelessly and without interest.
