Implementing the MoneyVal recommendations we will not hurt honest businesses – the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Robert Abela argued that by implementing the MoneyVal recommendations, the Government has taken great care not to hurt businesses through a clear and unambiguous distinction between organized crime and the operation of legitimate and honest businesses in the country.

Dr Abela was meeting in the Auberge de Castille with the representatives of the Malta Chamber of SMEs as part of a series of consultation meetings for the 2021 Budget.

The Prime Minister said that in the implementation process, the Government has hired expert people and has been clinical in implementing the recommendations made by MoneyVal and moving in the right direction.

“We are not going to hurt the trust that businesses have and paralyze their operations. With all that we have done, we have seen to it that we maintain a clear distinction between organized crime and the operation of legitimate and honest businesses, ”said Dr Abela, reassuring them that they will continue to operate with a pro-business policy.
