Msida Skatepark renovations

Infrastructure Malta collaborated with the Malta Skateboard Association and carried out various works to renovate the Msida Skatepark located at the Tal-Qroqq Roundabout, next to the University.

This was announced by Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg during a press conference where the works carried out on this site were followed-up on.

Minister Ian Borg stressed the importance that such spaces are equipped with appropriate infrastructure and maximum safety for all skateboarding and cycling enthusiasts to perform their sport.

“This space has seen little maintenance since it opened in 2008 and was left in an abandoned state. Therefore, we felt the need to roll up our sleeves and perform the necessary work to raise the standard of this skatepark. This is a social government that sees to it that no one is left behind and therefore this group in our society, which has at its heart the sport of skateboarding and cycling, should also benefit from a safe space and a suitable environment where one can practice this hobby. This is how we say that infrastructure is not just about roads and I would like to sincerely thank Infrastructure Malta for the diverse work it is carrying out across our country and look forward to other projects of this kind”, said Minister Ian Borg.

The renovation works carried out on the Msida Skatepark include new ramps and steel rails, new trees, new lighting, and new graffiti artworks.

Infrastructure Malta commissioned a team of ten graffiti artists led by James Micallef Grimaud to create new street art in this space for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance and which complements the nature of the sport.
