Tory rebels fail to block Covid passport

Parliament voted in favour of introducing a Covid Passport for entry into nightclubs, football matches and other large events despite nearly 100 Tory rebels voting against the bill.

People will now have to show proof of double-vaccination or a recent negative test to enter certain venues.

This is the biggest rebellion Prime Minister Boris Johnson has faced since taking over at No 10 and in the wake of recent alleged breaches of Covid restrictions such as parties at No 10 last December, the Owen Patterson scandal and the resignation of his press secretary Allegra Stratton over video mocking Covid restrictions have all heaped more pressure on his shoulders with a number of Tory MP’s wondering if he is past his sell by date.
