Shots were fired during a drugs squad operation in Mellieha on Thursday evening.
Anti-Drug Police assisted by the Special Intervention Unit (SIU) were following a vehicle in connection with an ongoing operation in Mellieha.
While they were on the Mellieħa bypass, the suspect noticed their presence and attempted to evade the officers.
Police were forced to fire shots in the direction of the suspect in order to stop him, however he got out of his vehicle and fled in the direction of the Mizieb.
Police are conducting searches in the area with the assistance of an Armed Forces helicopter.
The incident happened at 6.30pm on the Mellieha bypass.
The suspect has been named as Aidan Bartolo.
Police are asking the public to come forward with any information in relation to the individual, anonymously through Messenger or by phone on 21224001/119 quoting number 7/2021.
