UK: Covid number increase but PM rules out upping measures

Covid-19 cases are rising in the UK but Prime Minister Boris Johnson has ruled out a return to restrictive measures such as mandatory wearing of masks, working from home and Covid passports.

While admitting that the level of Covid cases is high, he said he “watching the numbers very carefully every day”.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid cautioned that there could be as many as 100,000 cases of Covid-19 as winter approaches.
