The Malta FA Trophy will be known as the Izibet FA Trophy following the signing of an agreement between the Malta Football Association and the gaming company Izibet on Monday.
MFA President Bjorn Vassallo said that the association was glad to have reached an agreement with Izibet to become the title sponsors for the next three years and hoped this partnership will eventually be extended for more years.
Vassallo added that over the past months, the association worked hard to attract sponsorships which were vital for the game. He revealed that more commercial agreements will be signed in the coming weeks.
Chief Commercial Officer of IZI Group Franco Degabriele said that he was proud that his company will be associated with the Malta Football Association as the two parties shared the same vision. He added that the company believed that this partnership agreement would help the development of football in Malta.
The FA Trophy was not completed in the past two years as both seasons 2019/20 and 2020/21 were prematurely terminated.
Balzan won the 2018/19 edition after defeating Valletta on penalties following a 4-4 draw at the end of extra-time.
The draws for the first round of the Izibet FA Trophy will be held in January. The final is scheduled for May 8.
