In an activity held on Thursday evening, Mrs Miriam Vella, wife of the President of Malta, awarded all the students who took part in the designs of the piggy banks for this year’s edition of l-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign.
For the second year running, the piggy bank of l-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign will be made of recyclable cardboard and drawings done by the children themselves.
L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign, sponsored by Bank of Valletta, is held in all schools in the last few months of each year with the aim of encouraging schoolchildren to take part in the fundraising activities in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, with the biggest activity being the televised event of l-Istrina taking place on Boxing Day.
Over 140 schoolchildren took part in a drawing competition organised for this purpose. The theme of this drawing competition was ‘Seeking what unites us’, in order to emphasise the importance of national unity.
The competition was organised, with the help of the Education Division, between March and July 2021, and the children submitted their drawings via email.
From his end, Mrs Miriam Vella thanked the children for participating in this competition and presented a certificate of participation to each child.
