No Budget tax increases and amateur opposition: PM tells Labour General Council

Closing the Labour Party’s General Council meeting on Friday evening, Prime Minister Robert Abela said there are no tax increases in this year’s Budget.

He spoke of his government’s handling of the covid-19 pandemic he was guided by expert medical and scientific advice and when difficult decisions were needed, they were taken. The prime minister said that Malta’s efforts in combating the virus were followed by other countries.

Prime Minister Abela was scathing in his criticism of the Opposition for holding a leadership election in the midst of the pandemic.

He also gave a hint of the future direction of the government with focus shifting from development to a better quality of life for everyone.
