Prime Minister Robert Abela meets council members of the Malta Dockers Union

“In a pandemic, the shore workers are frontliners because they are ensuring that our country continues to receive all the necessary deliveries.”

In a meeting with the Malta Dockers Union (MDU), the Prime Minister Robert Abela praised and thanked all the workers who earn their living from the ports of Malta and Gozo for the continuous service they are providing with dedication in pandemic.

He also noted how the union has continued to progress over the years and how this sector has never stopped working.

“It really fills me with courage to see a union like MDU grow, modernize and innovate to achieve its goals. The level of support from the workers is a testament to your intensive and organized work. This sector is very crucial for the country and I reiterate our commitment as a government to continue to give all the support needed to continue to achieve your goals “, said the Prime Minister.

For his part, MDU President Ryan Fava said the union’s ultimate goal remains the protection of shore workers.
