An act giving more rights to victims of crime is launched

Justice, Equality and Governance Minister Edward Zammit Lewis has announced that victims of crime can seek compensation for the consequences they have suffered as a result of the crime.

“In many member states, the access of victims of crime to compensation is difficult but in our country we are taking all the necessary measures that are fair and proportionate. Victims of crime and violence should no longer suffer as a result of that crime, in particular financial problems. “

In his address Minister Zammit Lewis explained that this Act, in addition to compensating victims, gives them more rights, including the right to be accompanied by a person of their trust and legal assistance during interrogation.
