PM announces another € 20 million in business aid.

This morning Prime Minister Robert Abela, together with Energy Minister Miriam Dalli, announced another € 20 million in business aid.

He said the initiatives presented together with the social partners today aim to assist businesses and incentivize new investment.

The government will assist by extending schemes on business leases and electricity bills and will also give a grant to those who will remain closed after May 10th.

We have also announced schemes, he said, to incentivize new investment, in particular for those who want to upgrade their business and those who want to ensure a more sustainable business.

Minister Miriam Dalli explained that the measures will be implemented by Malta Enterprise, measures that were created after a wide and continuous consultation with stakeholders, with measures that were adopted based on what they proposed.

“We have always stressed the importance of not only supporting businesses in this difficult time but also helping them to regenerate. We see in many businesses — large and small — the interest in improving their operations even to become more sustainable. Today we are telling these businesses that we are with them to take the next step, ”said Minister Miriam Dalli.
