Safety measures on Public Transport

At Malta Public Transport, safety has always been a top priority. Throughout the past year, we introduced a number of additional measures in an effort to keep our buses as safe as possible.
All buses are being cleaned more frequently with hospital-grade chemicals, at different times throughout the day in the busiest terminals. During the night, all the buses are cleaned, sanitised, and fumigated for extra protection.
Bus passengers must wear face masks, covering their nose and mouth, at all times while waiting at the bus stop and on the bus. Inspectors are carrying out checks on our buses and we are happy to note that the majority of passengers are complying with the regulations.
We have reduced the number of people on buses to allow more space for passengers. Standing passengers are only allowed to board the bus as indicated by the signage. During peak times, we are operating additional trips to ensure enough capacity for all passengers.
During peak times, some bus stops may be busy. Please respect social distancing to keep yourself and those around you safe. Allow passengers enough space to get off the bus before boarding. If the driver informs you that there is no more space on the bus, please wait for the next bus.
Please pay with your Tallinja Card or contactless bank card. If you must pay in cash, please provide the exact fare as our drivers are not able to give change. We remind our passengers that the Tallinja Card is a non-transferable card. A €50 penalty applies if anyone validates a Tallinja Card belonging to another person
