Husband of former Gozo minister cleared of fraud

Anthony Debono, the husband of former Gozo minister Giovanna Debono, has been cleared of having used government workers to carry out private work for constituents.

A whistle-blower, Joseph Cauchi, had claimed Debono told him to do certain jobs but then did not pay him for the work.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri said the evidence was not sufficient to find Debono guilty.
