“I would like to once again commend our institutions’ efforts in the pursuit of justice and their delivery of effective results.
I note the developments that have taken place in the last few hours, where two people were arraigned in court for their alleged involvement, and complicity, in the homicide of the late Mrs Daphne Caruana Galizia.
The legal maxim is that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. And due but expeditious process will now need to take its course in our courts of justice. As will the investigations.
But as a matter of fact, today there are the alleged mastermind facing charges in court and another four people charged for their alleged involvement in the homicide.
There is also a person who this week has been convicted and sentenced to imprisonment following an admission of guilt in this crime.
I would like to thank the Malta Police Force and the Commissioner of Police, and the Attorney General and her office for their efforts and dedicated work.
This is a country where the rule of law truly prevails.
Where the unprecedented reforms carried out in the last months have strengthened our institutions, and made them more effective in the delivery of results.
A country where justice is blind.
A country where all of the authorities will continue to find my government’s support to deliver justice, without fear or favour”.
